BE AWARE: GET TESTED
In observation of the 23rd International HIV/AIDS remains an unprecedented pandemic on our planet. Never in recorded history has there been a disease of this magnitude that has affected every continent, every country, and every culture. It is estimated there are over 40 million persons living with HIV/AIDS worldwide.
Around the world, there are 14,000 new infections every day, and every 9 ˝ minutes someone in the United States becomes infected with HIV. HIV has also become the most common cause of death for women around the globe as well, according to the United Nations. Help for rural persons living with HIV/AIDS Project Alliance is seeking participants for a study that will test a new telephone-administered intervention to reduce depressive symptoms in rural persons living with HIV/AIDS. This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is designed specifically for persons living with HIV/AIDS in small towns and rural areas. All participants will be asked to complete a small number of surveys and one-half of participants will participate in nine weekly intervention sessions over the telephone with highly trained mental health professionals to improve their life quality.
Regardless of the condition to which the participant is assigned, all participants can earn up to $465.00 if they participate fully in the study. Interested individuals should contact Project Alliance staff at 1-877-665-0288 (toll free) or by e-mail for more information. This project is offered by the Center for Telemedicine Research and Interventions (CENTRI) at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
