Changing the story…
Today, perhaps for the first time in three decades, we really have the opportunity to change the story and to reduce the rates of HIV transmission in Colorado. Youth continue to be disproportionately represented in new cases of HIV infection in our state. In 2014, nearly 33 percent of new cases were in youth age 13-29.
We are also seeing a surge of youth and young adults participating in our syringe access programs statewide.Last year, CHN served nearly 1,000 injection drug users through our statewide prevention and outreach initiatives, and provided more than 3,100 HIV tests and 2,350 free tests for other sexually transmitted infections.
We are grateful that people are seeking services, but the increase in participants has put a strain on our resources. We are now in critical need of more HIV tests and harm reduction supplies to continue to meet this growing demand. We hope you will join us by making a tax-deductible contribution, today. Your gift of $25, $50, $100 or more goes a long way in meeting this increased need.
Each person who knows their HIV status or participates in harm reduction strategies, and who helps us to be able to provide these resources in our communities, helps move us closer to eradicating this disease.
